Axial force clamp
This clamp family is distinguished by having individual gripping fingers which extend radially over the disk and then move axially to clamp the disk against the carbide disk seat using only axial forces. This replicates the mounting forces used in the final disk drive hub mount. While somewhat more complex, this can result in very high clamping forces and unique automation placement and pickup characteristics. Variations have even been developed for processing two disks at a time in both vertical and horizontal operating conditions to double throughput in existing machines.
